A representative from the Memphis Zoo's Raptor Rescue Center visited our class to show us birds of prey and to tell us about the zoo's rescue center for injured birds. He brought a Mississippi Kite, and a Screech Owl. Pictured here, is the Screech Owl that only has one wing because someone shot the owl and the wing had to be removed. |

As a result of the visit from the Memphis Zoo representative, our class decided to take up a collection to assist the zoo's Raptor Rescue Center. Students skipped an extra treat at lunch, or contributed a small portion of their allowance to this cause. We kept a total, each day, practicing those money counting skills! We collected $14.38 to contribute. The students had a great time putting the coins into the zoo's wishing well. |
