The first thing we did was get a popcicle, a Polar Bear Pie (Eskimo Pie). Then, we tried to predict how long it would take to melt. We put our predictions on a graph.SC 1.4.d Then we checked the popcicle to see how much it had melted. We checked it every five minutes. It took fifty minutes for it to melt.Next, we got to eat a popcicle. We predicted how many bites it would take to eat the popcicle. We got out some paper and we made tally marks for each time we took a bite. The fewest number of bites was five. The greatest number of bites was 20.MA 1.2.a
After we ate the popsicle, we used the popsicle stick to measure our arms. We worked with a partner. We flipped it end-to-end on our partner's arm. Most student's arms were four or five sticks long. After that, we measured with rulers. We measured our arms in inches. We learned that it took less time to measure with the ruler and it was easier, too.MA 1.2.b
